العربية: صورة التقطها تلسكوب المسح الفلكي (VLT) في مرصد بارانال في شيلي، وتظهر الصورة سديم البحيرة أو سديم اللاجون والكثير من تفاصيله. تساعد سحابة الغاز والغبار الكبيرة هذه في خلق العديد من النجوم الصغيرة المشعة، وتعد موطناً للعديد من المجموعات النجمية الجديدة. هذه الصورة هي جزء صغير من أحد عشر مسح عام للسماء والذي يتم على يد تلسكوبات المرصد الأوروبي الجنوبي (ESO)، وهي تقدم كماً هائلاً من المعلومات الفلكية.
Deutsch: Das VLT Survey Telescope (VST) am Paranal-Observatorium der ESO in Chile hat dieses neue detailreiche Bild vom Lagunennebel aufgenommen. Diese gigantische Gas- und Staubwolke bringt äußerst helle, junge Sterne hervor und beherbergt junge Sternhaufen. Dieses Bild ist nur ein winziger Teil von nur einer der elf öffentlich zugänglichen Himmelsdurchmusterungen von Teleskopen der ESO, die gerade durchgeführt werden. Zusammen stellen sie ein gewaltiges Vermächtnis an frei verfügbaren Daten für die astronomische Gemeinschaft der gesamten Welt dar.
English: The VLT Survey Telescope (VST) at ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile has captured this richly detailed new image of the Lagoon Nebula. This giant cloud of gas and dust is creating intensely bright young stars, and is home to young stellar clusters. This image is a tiny part of just one of eleven public surveys of the sky now in progress using ESO telescopes. Together these are providing a vast legacy of publicly available data for the global astronomical community.
Español: VST, el Telescopio de Sondeo del VLT (VLT Survey Telescope) instalado en el Observatorio Paranal de ESO, en Chile, ha captado esta nueva imagen, rica en detalles, de la Nebulosa de la Laguna. Esta nube gigante de gas y polvo alberga jóvenes cúmulos estelares y en su interior se están creando nuevas estrellas jóvenes intensamente brillantes.
