草原鵰（Aquila nipalensis）係一種大型，但動作好緩慢嘅大鵰。羽毛睇落去總係好亂，毛色亦變化多端，可以用飛羽同尾羽上嘅深色橫紋嚟分辨（不過並唔明顯）。鍾意喺空曠嘅地方狩獵。幼鳥有獨特嘅「咖啡加奶」嘅顏色，翼下中間有顯眼嘅白色橫紋帶。亞成鳥翼下保留有白色橫紋帶嘅痕跡。成鳥呈深褐色，好多時可見到枕部有偏黃色嘅斑塊同背脊有一個淡色斑點。靜止嗰陣重可以見到咀角邊緣伸延到眼睛嘅後緣。
