Northern Counties

Northern Counties係英國Wigan一間巴士車身製造廠。

史

Northern Counties喺1919年成立，當時公司全名係Northern Counties Motor and Engineering Company Ltd。喺運作初期，Northern Counties亦有出私家車車身。1967年，Northern Counties收購咗附近一間巴士車身製造廠Massey Brothers Ltd。

1969年，英國多間巴士公司合併成幾個Passenger Transport Executive，其中一個係SELNEC PTE（1974年再擴展成Greater Manchester PTE）。Northern Counties同SELNEC/Greater Manchester PTE合作推出後者嘅標準車身。

1975年，Northern Counties同Foden合作，推出一款後置引擎雙層巴士，叫做Foden-NC，不過最終只係出咗幾架。

1980至1990年代初，英國政府終止咗對買新巴士嘅資助，再加上1986年開始嘅公營交通服務私有化，令新車需求大減。1991年起Northern Counties俾人接管咗成年幾。不過Northern Counties最終都頂得住。1995年，擁有Plaxton嘅Henlys集團將Northern Counties收購，並喺1999年以Plaxton完全取代Northern Counties呢個名。

2001年，Henlys集團同擁有丹尼士車廠同埋亞歷山大車身公司嘅Mayflower Corporation合組一間叫TransBus International嘅公司，Plaxton呢個名俾TransBus取代。2004年TransBus International被接管，其後俾人收購並改叫亞歷山大丹尼士，呢單交易係包括埋原本Northern Counties間廠。

2005年1月26號，原Northern Counties間廠喺出晒所有President雙層巴士車身之後宣告執笠。
