折衷話

即管方言嘸同,古希臘嘅語言折衷化令到各個希臘政治實體維持得到啲商業跟外交關係。

語言學裏頭, 折衷話又喊做koiné古希臘語κοινή ,「共通」義)係一種標準又或通用嘅語言抑或方言,係從兩種抑或幾種變體經過接觸、混合、經常仲會經歷簡化而誕生嘅。 [1] [2]

由於種折衷話產生之前、啲使用者彼此之間就已經互相理解得,所以個折衷化(koineization)過程就嘸似洋涇浜化克里奧爾化過程咁劇烈(drastic)。嘸同於洋涇浜化跟克里奧爾化,折衷話嘅成形冇一個「目標」。折衷話保有某種連續性,令到啲講話人嘸使放棄自己啲語言變體。

相鄰方言之間嘅正常影響嘸着當作係折衷化。折衷話係喺原有方言之外新誕生嘅口頭變體,而本身嘸會改變到啲現有嘅方言,所以戥正常嘅方言演變有分別。 [3]

雖然類似於區域構造語言,折衷話係自然噉產生出來而嘸係着構造出來嘅。

嗰種Koiné Greek跟尾就成為馬其頓帝國嘅語言,又着廣泛用作第二語言(即管確實有一啲母語人)。

術語koine (希臘話意為「共通」)首先用來指嘅係某種用作通用語希臘話形式,用喺希臘化時代羅馬時代期間。 [4]佢作爲一種混合土話起源於雅典港口Peiraieus啲普通百姓中,嗰笪埞居住有來自地中海各地嘅希臘人[5] [6]

由於嗰門語言啲講話互通得嘅人之間不斷噉接觸,啲方言經過折衷化之後,新嘅方言變體就噉誕生。 折衷化係方言接觸嘅一種特殊情況,佢通常發生喺啲人從啲單一語言區域嘅嘸同埞方遷移到新定居點陣時。折衷化通常需要兩到三代正完成得到,雖然都可以喺第一代之內就實現得到。 [7]

語言變異係系統性嘅,因為佢可能跟社區內嘅社會分化有關,例如階級戥性別,當中分化出好多社會羣體。可以證明,變化係起源於啲特定嘅社會群體嘅。但係,好多語言學家最近指稱,語言嘅改變取決於個人。 [8] [9]

語言學家Paul Kerswill區分出兩種類型嘅折衷話:地區性嘅戥移民嘅: [10]

  • 地區性折衷話係強大嘅地區性方言喺戥啲方言、啲摒入個地區嘅講話人使緊嘅產生接觸陣時形成通常,折衷話嘅使用範圍會超出佢原本個形成區域。原始嘅折衷話具有地區特色。譬如,希臘語個阿忒方言英文Attic dialect(Attic dialect)戥雅典海港Piraeus裏頭嘅各種希臘方言接觸陣時,經歷到折衷化進程,並最終成為個希臘化世界嘅通用語
  • 移民折衷話係一種新嘅方言,形成於一個社區,裏頭啲移民講一門語言當中兩種抑或兩種以上方言又互通得嘅。喺19世紀末跟20世紀初,啲講各種印地語方言嘅人應徵成為契約勞工(indentured laborers)去到成個殖民地世界。啲方言嘅使用者喺嘸同條件下以嘸同比例聚埋一齊,由此發展出獨特嘅北印度語折衷話。啲印地/菩執布里(Hindi/Bhojpuri)方言見於斐濟圭亞那毛厘士南非蘇里南千里達和多巴哥

折衷化[編輯]

Kerswill仲研究有喺兩個鎮當中出現嘅挪威話方言,兩個鎮位於冶煉廠附近,個廠建於二十世紀中葉、座落喺Hardangerfjord峽灣Sørfjord分支嘅頭度。兩個城鎮喊做Odda跟Tyssedal,都吸引到來自挪威嘸同埞方嘅移民。Odda嘅工人主要(86%)來自挪威西部。喺Tyssedal,只有大約三分之一係來自挪威西部,三分之一來自挪威東部,其他啲就來自挪威其他埞。因此,喺兩個城鎮中發展出來嘅方言互相之間截然嘸同。 [11]

喺適應期當中,Peter Trudgill留意到Mesthrie所講嘅三個過程:混合、調平(levelling,互相找平,又叫「方言均一化」)、簡化。調平跟簡化嘅過程取決嘅因素好廣泛,包括來源方言(contributing dialects,做貢獻嘅方言)嘅嘸同聲望、新方言發展所處嘅社會政治環境以及參與適應過程嘅啲成年人嘅個人網絡。另外,Trudgill同埋Mesthrie都評論到嗰種重新分配過程(the process of reallocation),當中從來源方言保留落來嘅特徵喺個新方言裏頭又有新功能抑或新含義。 [12]

Trudgill提出了折衷話發展嘅多代模型。喺第一代(即移民)當中,方言嘅講話人會溝埋喺一齊,而且有某種調平。第一代母語講話人會繼續進行調平過程。之但係,喺Trudgill記錄得到嘅情況下(例如,挪威Tyssedal跟Odda方言嘅第一代發言人),佢哋講嘢都仲反映出標記形式(marked forms)嘅使用當中仲有好大差異,無論係喺發言者之間抑係喺各個發言者嘅音檔之中。

第三代人集中化(focuses)啲變體並穩定化個方言。Trudgill承認,喺某啲情況下種現象可以出現喺第一代母語人身上,亦都有可能喺第四代甚至仲遲啲嘅時候進行。個處於新興狀態嘅新方言,當中種狀態以形式嘅異質性(heterogeneity of forms)為特徵,Trudgill喊佢做中間方言(interdialect),喺其他方言研究裏頭通常喊做中間語言(interlanguage) [13]
